What is your vision for your garden?
Are you looking for a simple kitchen garden with one or two raised beds that will grow simple salad items like lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, and herbs?
Or do you want a more elaborate set up with multiple raised beds with arches, trellises, and a stone pathway?
There are many options available, depending on what you want.
I can help you with your options.
We’ll go over:
- Your goals for your garden
- The garden location
- The space available
Consider these things when planning on adding a garden to your yard…
1. Your Goals
If you want a simple kitchen garden, you can get all you need with just one or two raised beds. If you would like to have several options for growing vegetables all year, multiple beds will help make that happen.
2. Garden Location
The best place for your garden is where you get at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight per day. This is usually on the South side of your home and where there aren’t large trees that will block the sun.
3. Available Space
It’s amazing how many things you can grow, even in a spot where you don’t think you have a lot of room. There are many techniques we can go over to make this happen. And if you have a lot of space to work with, you’ll have more options for various layouts of garden beds.
